Tower Research Capital LLC seeks a sharp, highly-skilled Junior UNIX Systems Administrator who will help support the needs of a growing number of data centers and employees. Work experience at a college/university Help Desk preferred.
Tower’s offices are located in TriBeCa in downtown Manhattan. We offer competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including five weeks of vacation per year. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a system of over 800 servers and 60 data lines in 10 locations. Install, configure, and deploy fully distributed Red Hat Linux systems. Patch Windows and Solaris systems. Maintain system configuration files. Monitor Linux based-based servers for any hardware/ software failures and work to correct them. Assist with day-to-day maintenance of servers including backups and software upgrades. Monitor the backup system which handles over 60TB of data. Responsible for first level support and deployment of UNIX/Linux technology, including production, user acceptance tests, disaster recovery and development. Support a user base of over 120 people.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have experience with Red Hat Linux and Windows; C/Perl/Shell; DNS/NFS; PC hardware
• Experience with Sun Solaris, Sendmail, Apache, SQL/MySQL, SSH, PHP, IPTables Administration and Nagios a plus
• Organized and detail-oriented (extremely important)
• Able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills
• Able to prioritize tasks and work meticulously
• Able to work as part of a team as well as individually
• BS in Computer Science preferred but not required
• Must have indefinite right to work in the US
• Must be able to begin work quickly--the sooner, the better!

I notice that on your company site you are also looking for systems administrators, quality assurance specialists, infrastructure engineers, software developers, and even a director of market exchange relations.
Based on the job descriptions, I am not sure if I am an exact match for any of them, but since there is such a great intersection between what your company does and what I have been doing at a major Boston based financial services firm since 2025, with assignments in both quality assurance and project management, experience with market data, legal and ethics regulation and compliance, interaction with business customers and senior management, including architects, directors, senior vice presidents, and even the CIO of the legal organization, I felt it would be worth reaching out to you.
