32-bit apps in 64-bit arch?

From what I can tell 64-bit arch is a pure 64-bit distro without compatibility libraries for running 32-bit apps.

Has anyone had any luck with running 32-bit apps in 64-bit arch?
I found some stuff for setting up an Arch32 chroot and then using schroot to run applications, but I was still running into some issues with the libraries.

Just wondering if anyone has done this b4 and if so what tutorial the used?

what distro are you using? the steps required to get the 32bit libraries to run the 32bit apps differ between distribution.

For example, if you use Gentoo you must choose multilib at install time. but with debian it's just a matter of selecting the ring packages...

hmm. I read the title as arch as in architecture (ia64 or x86_64) not arch as in archlinux....

I've never tried to do this... I have two identical computers, one running i686 Archlinux and one running x86_64 Archlinux. I actually had them both x86_64 for a week or so, but then ran into this issue, so I re-did one as i686 and went from there...

Good luck, VHockey86. Hope it works this time...It's somewhat surprising that the Archlinux wiki page instructions didn't go very well. In my past experiences, everything on the Archlinux wiki is done very well.

turns out that I just needed to install some more applications in the chroot since the application I was trying to use depended on QT.

@platinummonkey, oh ok, that makes sense. Way back when I was using Fedora Core 6, I heard not-so-good things about xen. I would have thought that they might have had some improvement since then... unless it's ONLY the Archwiki's fault... which is possible. Good luck...
