I was on You-Tube today and found a few tutorials for Google SketchUp, I watched a bunch of tutorials and went to download it and found out it's only for M$ and MAC .... what a RIP Exclamation Exclamation I thought Google would be pro-Linux, at least ...... anyone know of a graphics app that is computer-ignoramus friendly? As an artist I make a heckuva good ditchdigger Laughing Laughing Paul was the artist in our family (made both of my avatars), my middle son Kevin is pretty good too, but couldn't hold a candle to Paul's art Wink.

I need an app (3d?) with tutorials, that will let me make pipes and join them together with elbows, tees, etc., as well as fish tanks (tubs or barrels) for doing aquaponics drawings of ideas I have so that I don't forget them .... as said above, it has to be super friendly ...... I got lost on Gimp just trying to figure out how to make a picture Exclamation I can't even draw a straight line without a straight edge, so my "paint" program pics always looked like a kid had been scribbling on the computer screen Surprised Shocked Sad

Goog is pro Goog, and if Mac gets supported before Linux, no harm.... is a rare day when M$ is NOT first.

I can post some GIMP tutorial links of you want some.

I have only dabbled in the graphics stuff, but you might want to take a look at Inkscape. It has a "tracing" function that is kind of fun. I've taken pictures of sketches I made, and in Inkscape was able to "clean" them up to look like computer-generated line drawings.

Thanks Pet3M0ss I'll take a look at that Wink

Well that would be nice except for one thing ..... I couldn't find an eraser to get rid of some of the lines ..... and when I went to gimp, I found the eraser, but couldn't make the straight lines like was possible in inkscape ........ going to have to work on these things ....... google ...... google..... google ......

"Krita" seems a little more intuitive (to me) than GIMP. You get straight lines by dragging and clicking (top right button on the tools left of the screen). I really like GIMP for the photo stuff, and never took time to learn their drawing tools.

I got granted a patent on the condition I redrew my line drawings. Went to a designer that sipped on a cup of coffee while he redid the illustrations (maybe 20 minutes max). Presto. Pretty impressive, but I was severely humbled by my incompetence. If you are drawing sophisticated stuff, perhaps you should look for some reference books. The terms are pretty much interchangeable between programs, I think.

Krita appeared to be interested, so I'm giving it a shot in Cooker.

To install it, it sure seems sophisticated, by all the dependencies:
Code:
# urpmi krita
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
