These days, I use my browsers, far and away the most. Unfortunately, by day, that's on Windows XP in a pretty restricted environment, so it is IE 7 there. I did manage to grab a few text editors there for my desktop, so I have added Barry's Emacs, Jedit, and SEDT, believe it or not, but I don't really use them all that often.

At home, another story completely. Nearly all Linux use except, again, when I am working from home managing a Web site that requires me to use Front Page.

So at home, Seamonkey gets the Lion's share of work, especially since it also doubles, not only as my default Web browser, but also my default Email client. Right now, I am using Swiftfox, a natively compiled variation of Firefox, compiled and optimized for a few different processors. I experiment with nightly builds of Firefox and Seamonkey from time to time, but I am more likely to use Google Chrome or Midori these days rather than Firefox when I want to do some simple but fast Web browsing.

On my Droid I use either the default Android Webkit based browser or the custom Dolphin Webkit browser, not to be confused with the KDE 4 Dolphin File Manager.

Browsing it is; probably 90% of what I do - often with Webmail and forums like this one.

1. a wireless connection manager; usually Network Manager, Knetwork Manager, WICD or Ceni depending on the distro. Prefer WICD or Ceni.

2. a browser; usually Firefox or Ice Weasel. Less frequently Google Chrome.

3. Open Office or AbiWord for word-processing.

4. Gnumeric or Open Office for spreadsheeting.

5. DigiKam for photo editing and management.

6. Skype - because nobody I know uses Ekiga.

7. Terminal. Very convenient and when I need it, I need it!

8. GIMP - when Digikam lacks tools I need, which is not frequent.

9. Good file manager is essential. Usually Nautilus, Dolphin or Roxfiler.

10. K3b or Brasero. K3b preferred.

11. GParted. Another of those "When I need it I really need it" apps.

12. Vi. I have to do the tutorial to retain a basic competence, but I perversely think it is fun. OK, strange fellow.

Wireless and browser are absolutely essential, but I would not want to be without any of these.

1 - Open Office Calc
2 - Firefox (and a raft of plugins)
3 - Open Office Writer
4 - K3B
5 - XMMS
6 - A package manager
7 - The Mana World
8 - Dolphin

About it.

I keep trying to learn to like Amarok, but it keeps getting more confusing than I want, and it changes so often
