Nexenta OS Anil Gulecha has announced the availability of the first release candidate for Nexenta Core Platform 3.0, a server distribution combining the OpenSolaris kernel and base system with Debian utilities and Ubuntu software packages: "On behalf of the Nexenta project, I'd like to announce the availability of Nexenta Core Platform 3.0 RC1. The main changes over the beta 3 release include: dozens of ON fixes backported to b134, bug fixes. Features: based on OpenSolaris build 134+ backports/fixes from later releases; ZFS deduplication support; Crossbow support; over 13,000 packages in the repository based on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS repository; SMF support added to server applications like Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Exim; 100% native Debian environment; includes apt-clone which brings ZFS power to apt-get."
