A friend asked me about books for learning Linux. The first one I recommended was "Linux in a Nutshell, 4th Edition".

After thinking about it, I remembered another, "The Linux Cookbook: Tips and Techniques for Everyday Use". It's really quite good and there is an online version here: http://www.tldp.org/LDP/linuxcookbook/html/

The hardcopy can be purchased from No Starch Press. http://www.nostarch.com
