PSPI, the Photoshop Plugin Interface offers users the ability to use those plugins under GIMP, even GIMP for Linux. I have almost no experience with Photoshop, so I'm not the 'expert' to ask questions of....

This will actually be a great addition for the Gimp. I've been using photoshop for quite a while now, and really the only thing that keeps me from using the gimp is that it doesn't have all the plug-ins I need, and I find the interface rather confusing. Now, if I can just get used to the interface I'd be good to go.

Well, yeah, getting too close to Adobes interface might be inviting legal troubles. Of course, the loss of a familiar user interface seems to be one of the real reasons why people shy away from using FOSS (such as OpenOffice) on Windows - I've heard endless comments of 'I can't find the menu item I need'. I know from personal experience that this is a vexing user issue, but users can either pay money to keep the old habits or pay time and frustration to learn a different UI. Sad, but that's the way the software industry wants it.

Your absolutely right, and the thing that really kills me is that I simply don't have as much free time anymore, thus I cannot spend the time to explore other programs to do my graphics with. Had I not started using Linux would I did I wouldn't be able to use it today, because now I wouldn't have the time to learn, which is why things like the Gimp and Linux should be taught to people while they are in school.
