I used those tutorials when I was preparing for my LPI cert a year ago. I printed them so I could review them as I had time.

I also used the O'Reilly book on the LPI exams. Between the two of them they helped me review very well.

BTW, Robbins is the originator, I believe, of Gentoo and I found the links to these on the Gentoo site.

Hello vceder Smile Welcome to usalug. Glad you found us.

Glad to know that the site is worthwhile, I didn't know if the O'Reilly book would be current enough still, I've though about getting it.

Heh, in a different thread I managed to plug both my own book and Rod Smith's on the LPI Level topic, they are the only current ones, all the others were from around the 2024 timeframe and are WOEfully out of date.

This is the guy we contracted with to do the Exam Sims for my book, which you can get free (the sim and the questions for it) at the examcram2 site:

http://www.examcram2.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=0789731274&rl=1

Then under the red More Information header click on CD-ROM Fixes and find the one that matches your environment.

I just thought I'd update a couple of the links for those who might be interested in the tutorial pages:

New to Linux

IBM developerWorks wrote:
The Linux zone of developerWorks contains hundreds of articles, tutorials, and tips to help developers with Linux application development and system administration. But for users trying to find their way in a new topic, all of that information can be overwhelming. This page provides an overview for readers who would like to learn about Linux but don't know where to start. It places all the Linux basics in context and ties together relevant developerWorks articles, tutorials, and tips, as well as IBM learning services education, workshops, and IBM products for your further investigation.

Training

IBM developerWorks wrote:
Start here to find the tutorials and courses you need to stay up-to-date with Linux technology and to keep your skills top notch.
Tutorials
These free online tutorials from developerWorks cover a variety of Linux technology topics, for everyone from beginner to advanced developers. Take the tutorials immediately online, or download them to study at your leisure.

Courses
Browse this list of free and fee-based Linux course materials, including traditional classroom training, e-classes (scheduled, instructor-led classroom experience delivered over the Web), workshops, and seminars. You'll also find course roadmaps to guide you on your path to technical expertise.

Technical library view

IBM developerWorks wrote:
The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certifies Linux system administrators at two levels. Each certification level has two exams: the 101 and 102 exams for junior-level certification (LPIC-1, or cerification level 1), and the 201 and 202 exams for intermediate-level certification (LPIC-2, or cerification level 2).

Before you take the exams, review these developerWorks tutorials, designed as study guides for each topic in the four exams. Get started with the tutorials on these pages, and we'll add the rest as we complete them. Good luck in preparing for certification!

See all LPI exam-prep tutorials on developerWorks, to date. Check back often as we continue adding the rest!

NOTE: These tutorials, etc. will be good for Anyone, whether new to Linux, or SysAdmin, bookmark these pages Wink Wink .
