Description: Job Description:
Provide technical and administrative support for Data Center Linux Servers, using Linux commercial operating systems and a variety of application software.
Maintain adequate knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize efficiency and high availability of all Data Center assets.
Assists in the evaluation of all computer hardware and software products; collaborates with systems development and computer services on Linux OS, ESS SAN hardware and software installations including midrange, messaging platform support and maintenance.
Job Responsibilities:

Develop, in coordination with the various departments, network computer systems and ensure those systems are fully functional.
Maintain currency on server and storage technologies and software and other relevant developments.
Follows defined IT Data Center standards, policies, and procedures.
Present SLA results, issues, projects, and plans to selected audiences.
Integrate new technology and products into Data Center and corporate applications fabrics.
Research and develop new applications and Data Center technologies.
Maintain, upgrade and enhance all Data Center equipment and software per defined policies and procedures.
Must be able to solve problems independently.
Must be familiar with all relevant corporate standards, policies, and procedures associated with the position.
Monitor and evaluate efficiency of software/hardware usage, providing information to be covered in training of users and co-workers, making them more efficient.
Install new software applications or hardware in the Data Center, coordinating assistance from third parties when necessary.
Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access, ensuring security, and maintaining their configurations are within standards.
Assist in installation of Linux workstations and printers on the LAN.
Assist in gathering bid prices on equipment and supplies as needed.
Monitor and report licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis.
Manage and maintain the IT Linux knowledge base and structure.
In-depth knowledge of Linux Operating System and functionality
Ensure that all OS upgrades and patches are applied to all Linux servers as required to maintain vendor support and high availability.
Monitor load balance on servers and make recommendations accordingly.
Determines personal computer applications for project/system(s), including software testing.
Maintains relevant certificates and training to ensure competitive usage of IT assets.
Attends conferences and training as needed to learn new and current systems and procedures. Travel may be required.
Functions as a resource for software and hardware systems users; communicates with system users to maintain Server Based operating environments.
Coordinates with systems trainers to provide implementation schedules for system hardware, software, and training needs.
Carry out other such duties as may be assigned or requested.

Requirements: Specific Skills Required:
Minimum 3 - 5 years experience with Linux and LAN/WAN operating systems.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Skill in identifying problems and solving them.
Skill in mastering the application of new technology and researching new methods of operation.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with co-workers, visitors.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing systems and practices.
Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc. to employees.
Competency in word processing and filing systems.
Maintains confidentiality.
Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
Establishes rapport with users and promotes independent computing skills.
